Today was my first PSL of the season, thanks to The ‘Rona.
Now, I understand that the pumpkin spice latte is not everybody’s cup of tea … or coffee, I guess. I get it. Some of you just don’t like good things in your life. That’s not the point.
Since March, thanks to The ‘Rona, I have not done many normal things like getting coffee from any place that isn’t my kitchen. My family’s normal summer activities of movies and museums and roller coasters and restaurants were kicked in the nuts and have been down for quite a while.
While various shops and activities have been slowly opening up around here with various restrictions, I have been even slower to feel okay going to them, despite their reassurances of safety. I just don’t know how smart it is or how dangerous it is. I mean, is a PSL or some crab cakes worth the risk?
But the PSL I had today was one of the best PSL’s I have ever had. Not because it was the first of the season. Not because it might be the only of the season. But because it was a dose of normalcy amidst The ‘Rona and all the hard shit that came with it.
